Twisted pair pinout (8 wires): color scheme, connection sequence. Connecting Legrand internet sockets, with a cable (diagram) Installing an internet socket connection diagram

To ensure uninterrupted wired Internet, it is enough to wisely lay the cable and install the correct socket. Inside the socket there are wires of the Internet wire. The speed of the Internet depends on how the Internet outlet was connected.

A special connector designed for wiring a twisted pair cable. The wiring itself consists of eight separate copper wires that are intertwined into four pairs. This system allows you to transfer high-speed Internet without interruptions. The response connector is called RJ-45/8p8c.

Classification of information outlets

Computer experts group network sockets according to three characteristics:

  • Number of available connectors (single, double, terminal and combination).
  • The ability to pass a channel with information.
  • Installation principle (inside the wall, on top of the wall).

What are internet sockets used for?

To connect to the network, the master lays a long electrical cable, which is attached to the panel, and the other end is connected to the computer. You can hide the wire in the baseboard or put it behind furniture. But what to do if we are talking about more than one device that requires connection (TV, set-top box...)? Based on this, it is better to think about how to connect the Internet cable in the future and conduct hidden wiring.

Important! A typical router typically has 4 outputs. Based on this, you need to lay the same number of network cords in the rooms. Assemble the crimped ends together and connect them to the LAN port.

Application options for Internet sockets

The area of use of the information outlet is very extensive. They are widely in demand in specialized premises:

  • in offices and classrooms;
  • Internet clubs and electronic libraries;
  • workshops for repair and maintenance of gadgets and computer equipment.

Note! The presence of twisted pair connectors is a prerequisite for server rooms. This ensures the connection of computer stations for work.

The rapid development of technology is driven by consumer needs. Search tools are in great demand in the field of education, from kindergarten to college.

For workers who deal with computers and other office equipment, the presence of this kind of socket is mandatory.

Another example where their installation is considered a prerequisite is corporate or government services (banks, storage facilities, courts, etc.). In this way, information leakage is prevented as much as possible.

Connection standards

Inside the network cable there are eight wires (twisted into four pairs). At the end of the twisted pair there is a connector, it is called “Jack”. Inside (8Р8С) there are multi-colored veins.

Other electrical wires have similar connectors. The distinguishing feature is the location. Recently, two types of connection have been developed:

  • TIA/EIA-568-B;
  • TIA/EIA-568-A.

The first option is widely known and in demand. For Internet networks, a two-pair (up to 1 GB/s) or four-pair (from 1 to 10 GB/s) cable is used.

Note! Today, the entry speed can reach 100 MB/s. Developers are improving every day, so it’s worth thinking about new products and laying a cable of four pairs.

Connection diagram by color

Two schemes have been developed for connecting an Internet outlet. The second option - T568B - should be examined in more detail. The first scheme is practically not used.

Note! For private houses and apartments, an electric cable is used that provides speeds of up to 100 MB/s. Information sockets and connectors are designed for four-pair cables; they should be laid for convenience.

Using a two-pair cable, the first three electrical wires are laid starting from diagram “B”, the green color is connected to contact number six. In the photo you can see in detail the connection diagram of the Internet cable.

Laying cables in walls

The process of installing wiring inside the wall is not an easy decision, but it is the right one. The main advantage is the absence of cords under your feet and the neat appearance of the room. The disadvantage is that troubleshooting is problematic, if necessary.

Important! The unshielded pair is made of copper. Metal is sensitive to electromagnetic interference. It is necessary to maintain the distance between the wiring for the computer and electricity. It must be at least 50 cm.

Algorithm of actions:

  1. Route markings. The network cable is limited in bending radius; this should be taken into account when planning the groove. Each cable has technical specifications that you should familiarize yourself with before use.
  2. Cable selection. Reliability is the main advantage. To connect the network, it is better to purchase UTP category 5. Basic requirements for cables: bending radius, tensile force, quality assurance.
  3. Installation. The cable should be hidden in a corrugation. The diameter of the corrugated pipe must be larger than that of the wiring. It is fixed in the groove using a gypsum screed.

Installation and connection of a power outlet

The twisted pair is masked in the channel or hidden in the baseboard. You need to retreat 8 centimeters from the edge, then remove the shell.

First, the body is disassembled, and then the front part is disconnected.

Note! On the reverse side there is a connection diagram (two types “A” and “B”). You should connect using the second method.

The next thing to do is to crimp the wires into the terminals. Using a clamp, you need to fix the wire and check the signal. A tablet or phone is suitable for this.

Having ensured that it is in good working order, the excess part is cut off and the entire mechanism is assembled. Simply connecting the two parts is enough. Attach it to/on the wall and check operation.

Connecting RJ-45 with two twisted pair wires

All preparation is identical to the previous option. For switching you only need four conductors. By adhering to the diagram, the contacts are activated. After crimping, assembly and installation are carried out, and then the signal is checked.

Note! A wire with two twisted pairs is used to transmit information at a speed of no more than 1 Gb/s. If the speed is not enough, you will have to re-lay the cable and perform all the installation work.

Crimping wires on socket contacts

The operation of the system directly depends on crimping. Do not strip thin wires. The contacts are designed in such a way that a tightly wound conductor cuts the insulation and allows commutation with the copper conductor.

Connecting the network cable to the outlet

Information nests are divided into two types:

  • Internal. The box is mounted deep into the wall, then the contact part is fixed and the whole thing is masked with a panel.
  • External. The housing is mounted on top of the wall.

Note! Sockets are distinguished by the number of connection points (single, double).

How to connect a wall outlet

In the middle there is a symbol with the correct wire connection. The case should be attached to the wall with the computer inlet facing down and the cable inlet facing up. The insulation from the twisted pair is removed by 5 cm. The main thing is not to catch the insulation of the conductors.

There is a plastic clamp on the board. A conductor is inserted into it and connected so that the stripped piece is below the clamp.

Wires of the desired color are connected to the microlegs. At the moment when the conductor passes the knives, a characteristic click will be heard.

After all the conductors have been distributed, the excess pieces are cut off and the cover is put on.

How to connect an indoor socket

The first step is to disassemble the housing by turning the impeller. After this, the plate containing the contacts is removed. The third step is crimping the terminals. The wires should be secured with a clamp and a preliminary check should be carried out. If everything works, the excess is removed and everything is put back together. The last step will be to cover the internals with the front panel.

Twisted pair gasket

If the premises are being built from scratch, then everything is simple. The twisted pair is hidden in a corrugation, then laid with other communications. Don't forget about the number of wires that are installed. Diameter is also important (+25% of the total).

If repairs are carried out by creating new channels, it is worth considering what the walls of the rooms are made of.

Note! When working with a concrete wall, you should remember that there will be a lot of dust and dirt. You will first need to clear the room of foreign objects and prepare clothes for work: thick outerwear, a hat, glasses, gloves, a respirator and boots.

The depth of the groove channel is 35 mm, and the width is 25 mm. They are made only at an angle of 90%.

Connecting Legrand sockets

Twisted pair cables are used to connect connectors and sockets. Each vein has its own color. Almost all local networks use an RJ-45 connector for connection.

The connection process for this model is no different from others. You can use scheme "A" or "B".

Connecting a Schneider Internet outlet

French models from Schneider allow two computers to connect at once. To do this you will need pliers, a knife (stationery knife), and crimping.

Using a knife, you need to remove the top layer of insulation (4 cm from the end). Strip the ends of two cables and connect them to the terminal blocks one by one. After this, the terminals are clamped and then attached in place.

Connection errors

Many people make mistakes during the installation and connection process. Here are some of them:

  • The connection type was not checked. You should carefully check the cross-connection of the connector, and then begin distributing the wires.
  • During stripping, the integrity of the wire was damaged.
  • An extra long wire may affect operation. 20 cm is enough for work.
  • If everything is done correctly, but there is no result, then the outlet itself is faulty.

Note! Knowing how to properly connect Internet outlets, you can change your home network yourself. The main rule is to follow the scheme and not mix up the colors.

Installing them will not be difficult, and the end result will pleasantly please you.

Tool used for crimping twisted pair cables

Crimping RJ-45 wire (instructions)

To properly crimp an RJ-45 wire, follow these steps:

Using pliers, we bite off the piece of cable necessary to accomplish the goal (necessarily at a right angle), so that the conductors are in an even position.

Carefully remove the outer insulating layer by approximately 2.5–3.5 cm.

We select the cores by color in accordance with the crimping pattern chosen earlier. In order to do this, you first need to unravel the wires and align them, and then lay them side by side in the correct sequence and press them together as tightly as possible. At the end of this step, we bite off the ends of the wires using pliers (crimmer) at a distance of about 10–15 mm from the edge of the insulation.

Options for sorting wires in a twisted pair cable

Slowly and very carefully attach the connector to the cable. We constantly monitor the conductors and under no circumstances allow them to enter the connector in the wrong sequence (otherwise the system will not function!). Smoothly push the wires until they fit tightly into the connector.

Video: crimping twisted pair cables with special tools

At the same time, not always and not everyone may have the tool necessary for twisted pair cables at hand, so there is another type of crimping - using a flat-head screwdriver.

Crimping the cable using a flathead screwdriver

We repeat the steps similar to the previous method (cut off the cable, strip the outer insulating layer).

We select the electrical circuit and sort the wires.

We shorten the conductors to the required size.

Carefully insert the connector.

We turn the connector over so that the latch is on the bottom and the contacts are on top. We place it on a flat surface so that the edges of the connector rest on some base, while the latch must remain free (to avoid possible damage).

Take a screwdriver and gently press on the connector. We repeat this action until you see that it does not protrude from the connector housing; when this happens, the cable will be securely fastened in the housing.

Carefully press the screwdriver in the area of the contacts and push them down. We carefully check that they pass through the insulating layer and are fixed in the conductive core.

How to connect an internet outlet: installation instructions

Installation and connections are the final stage of creating a computer network, but before you begin, make preliminary preparations

Before you begin installing the socket, you must go through the following preparatory steps:

We lay twisted pair cables to the place where we plan to install the socket (we create internal wiring), which will pass along grooves prepared in advance. With this method of laying the cable, it will be completely covered by the wall surface (internal installation), which ensures its protection from damage and interference (noise);

We install the installation box. To do this, in the place chosen for installing the socket, we make a hole using a hammer drill. Then we attach the box to this place using self-tapping screws or dowels.

Video: Installing an Indoor RJ-45 Receptacle

If an open method (external installation) was chosen for mounting the socket, an additional element will be needed for fixation - a cable box that is mounted on the wall. After the socket has been installed on the wall, we remove the cover and proceed to its direct connection.

Direct connection of RJ 45 socket

Connecting the cable to the outlet is quite simple and will not cause any difficulties. You just need to remember that there are two schemes for connecting the socket to the connector. T568 "A" or T568 "B". The difference between these schemes is only in the color scheme of the wires.

Internal arrangement of Internet sockets

The socket terminals are also marked based on the colors of the wires intended to be connected to them. For this purpose, manufacturers mainly use special stickers on which the markings are applied. In order for the entire system to function properly in the future, you just need to connect the socket, focusing on this marking.

Work order:

1. Remove the front cover from the socket.

2. Remove the outer insulating layer of about 5–6 cm and straighten the cores.

3. Align and distribute the twisted pair cores.

4. In accordance with the selected connection diagram, we insert the cores into the ports (without removing the additional layer of insulation).

Most Internet sockets are equipped with special latches that work on the principle of clamps. This means that crimping an RJ 45 cable can be done without the use of additional equipment. If they are missing, then to fix the wires we use bolts, which we secure with a screwdriver.

5. We fix the socket on the wall or in the installation box.

6. Install the front panel on the socket.

Manufacturers of Internet sockets

There are many companies in the world that produce sockets used for organizing computer networks. Let's get acquainted with some of them:

Viko- a company founded in Turkey in 1980. It is the owner of many certificates, which it received as a reward for high quality services from representatives of the International Organization for Standardization. Currently, the company has developed a fairly large product sales network, consisting of 55 countries, including Russia.

Legrand- Is a leading French company in the manufacture of electrical components used for household and industrial purposes. Despite its relatively young age, it produces a fairly extensive line of products: sockets intended for use in telephone and computer networks, pass-through switches, RCD (Residual Current Devices) circuit breakers, contactors, etc.

Hager Systems - a company founded in Germany in 1955, which opened a representative office in Russia in 2004. Since 2011, it has been called Electrical Systems and Technologies LLC, as it was purchased by Russian investors in 2009. It is engaged in the production of electrical equipment, for example, sockets, switches, modular-type protective switching equipment, cable ducts, etc.

Today in this article we will look at three types of sockets for an Internet cable. I’ll tell you how to crimp each one on the go when you don’t have enough tools. And also which outlet is better to choose for home use and connection. I hope you have already installed the cable. Next, the wires usually go into special mounting boxes if you are going to use internal sockets. Or they are laid separately in cable ducts in an external socket (“Box” type).

Try to leave as much wire as possible, preferably 15-20 cm. Just in case you have to re-crimp the wires. Now let's turn our attention to the pinout or crimp color that currently exists.

There are two types of them “A” and “B”. If anyone has ever crimped wires, then they know that it is the “A” system that is used for crimping cables. But for sockets it is the “B” scheme that is used. And we will use it exactly. Now I will tell you how to connect an Internet cable to an outlet using the example of different models.

ATTENTION! If you have a network socket on one side, and on the other side you want to crimp a regular RJ-45 connector. Then we crimp the socket according to “B” type, but the wire as usual according to “A”.

Standard model CAT5 E

  1. First, let's disassemble the socket. We need to separate the inner core or connector from the main block. The inner core is necessary for crimping the wire and the RJ-45 connector is stored in it. She looks like the photo above.

  1. We screw on the metal caliper - this is the very basis where the entire mechanism will be attached.

  1. We remove the top braid to a distance of 5 cm. Now simply according to diagram “B”, carefully insert each wire. If you look at the picture, we insert the wires in this order.
    1. Front: white-orange, orange, white-green, green;
    2. Back: White-blue, blue, white-brown, brown.
  2. After this, we put the cover on top and the wires will cut into the grooves themselves, using special internal knives.
  3. All that remains is to insert the block itself inside the base and screw the entire base to the caliper. I think you can handle this.

Crimping the external model

It looks like an ordinary box, which can have one or several connectors for a network connection.

  1. Carefully remove the top cover.
  2. And so we look at the crimping diagram. We have this diagram “B”; the Internet cable is connected according to the colors in the picture:
    1. Left side (top to bottom)– white-orange, orange, white-green, green;
    2. Right side (top to bottom)– white-blue, blue, white-brown, brown.
  3. Now we expose the wire by removing the top braid. We insert each wire according to the diagram into the groove. But here it is very important, for this they use a special device - a cross-knife. He presses the wire inside and immediately cuts off the excess.

  1. If there is no such device, then you can use a thin screwdriver or, better yet, a paper knife. But be careful - this way you can easily break the socket. At the very end, screw the socket to the base with a self-tapping screw.

How to crimp VICO?

I personally installed these models in my home to connect the TV via a router to the Internet. The principle there is approximately the same as in previous versions, but there is a small feature that I would like to talk about. The “wiring” diagram is the same as “B” and it is located below (if you look at the picture, then from above):

  • Brown;
  • White-brown;
  • Green;
  • White-green;
  • Blue
  • White-blue;
  • Orange;
  • White-orange;

Now comes the important point. Since the knives inside are arranged differently, you shouldn’t insert all the wires at once - some may fly out during crimping or get into an adjacent groove. So you can do it simply:

  1. Insert the first two wires
  2. Then you slam a plastic lid on top to crimp it.
  3. Next, open the cover and make sure the wires are crimped.
  4. Well, then the rest of the wires.

This is advice for those who have just started crimping these sockets and have not gained the skill to crimp all 4 pairs at the same time - this way there will be less swearing and nerves. As soon as the socket is crimped, insert it into the base and screw it to the box with self-tapping screws.

How to check the connection

Oddly enough, it is not said anywhere that you can check the “B” pinout on sockets using a regular power cord, a cord that is crimped according to diagram “A”. I repeat once again that all network sockets are crimped according to the “B” pattern, and we use the wire with a crimp to the “A” pattern. It doesn’t matter what you connect, a router, router, switch, or connect directly to the server. Then you can use a regular tester. We insert the wires into different parts of the device and turn it on.

With the advent of the Internet, the lives of many families have changed. Most of them are connected to the Internet, especially since you don’t need much for this; it’s enough to have a personal computer or the most common mobile phone. In turn, each family member can be connected to a separate line. Local distribution of the Internet resource is carried out wirelessly using a special Wi-Fi protocol. And yet, many prefer distribution by wire, as it is much more reliable, simpler and cheaper. In addition, the presence of additional electromagnetic waves negatively affects a person’s well-being.

As a rule, they try to hide all wires in the walls so that they do not interfere. Internet cables are no exception. This is mainly carried out during the period of repair work. For this, there are special sockets called computer or information sockets. Basically, sockets with RJ-45 connectors are used. You can do all the installation processes yourself if you know how to do it, especially since there can be more than two wires and you need to know which contact to connect to which. The procedure is performed not by twisting or soldering, but by crimping, using a special tool for this.

The Internet cable that enters the apartment is called twisted pair and is connected to a plastic connector. This plastic connector is called a connector, designated RJ-45. Professionals call such devices “Jacks”.

Basically, the plastic connector is made of a transparent material through which all the different colored wires are visible. Exactly the same parts are used to connect computers, a modem to a computer, and other computer hardware. In this case, the arrangement of colored wires may not be the usual one. This is the connector that is inserted into the information socket. The most important thing here is to understand the order of all the wires and then the problem with crimping the connector will be solved.

There are two connection schemes: T568A and T568B. We do not practice the first connection option, and the connection is carried out according to scheme “B”. Therefore, you need to familiarize yourself with the arrangement of colors according to this scheme.

A very important point is the number of wires in a twisted pair. As a rule, cables with 2 pairs or 4 pairs of wires are used. 2-pair cables are used to transfer data at speeds up to 1 Gb/s, and 4-pair cables are used to transfer data at speeds from 1 to 10 Gb/s. Internet cables are installed in private houses and apartments, where data transfer is carried out at speeds of up to 100 Mb/s. Despite this, there is a steady trend towards increasing the speed of transfer of Internet resources. Therefore, it is better to play it safe and install a 4-pair cable with the future in mind. Moreover, the connectors and sockets are produced for connecting 4-pair twisted pair cables.

When using a 2-pair cable, after laying the first 3 wires according to diagram “B”, the green wire is connected to the sixth contact, skipping two contacts. This can be seen in the corresponding photo.

To crimp the ends on the connector, special pliers are used, which can cost from 6 to 10 dollars, depending on the manufacturer. When using such a tool, high-quality contacts are obtained, although this can be done using wire cutters and a screwdriver.

First, you need to remove the protective insulation from the cable, at a distance of 7-8 cm from the end of the cable. The cable contains four pairs of wires of different colors, twisted in pairs. There are cables with a thin shielding braid. It won't be needed, so you can simply bend it to the side. All pairs are untwisted, and the wires are aligned, spread apart and laid out according to pattern “B”.

The separated wires are clamped between the thumb and forefinger. At the same time, you need to make sure that the wires are straight and tightly pressed to one another. If the wires are of different lengths, they can be aligned with wire cutters, leaving a total of 10-12 mm in length. If you take the connector and try it on, the insulation of the wires should start slightly above the latch.

This can also be seen in the photo. After this, the prepared wires are inserted into the connector.

It is very important that each wire falls into a special path, and each wire must rest against the edge of the connector. Holding the cable in this position, it is inserted into the pliers. Crimp the cable with a smooth, careful movement until the handles of the pliers come together. If all prepared operations are performed correctly, then there should be no problems. If you feel that additional force is needed, then it is advisable to pause the crimping process and check everything again. The main thing is that the connector is in the correct position. After checking and adjusting, crimping continues.

During the crimping process, the pliers push the conductors towards the microknives, which push the insulation and establish contact with the conductor.

The result is a reliable connection with excellent contact. If it doesn’t work the first time, the crimping process must be repeated. To do this, the wires with the “jack” are cut off, stripped, a new “jack” is taken and the process is repeated. The main thing is to stock up on “jacks”, because it’s unlikely to succeed the first time.

Video tutorial: crimping an RJ-45 connector

Thanks to the advent of the Internet, many problems are solved quite quickly, especially after watching videos. Therefore, before proceeding directly to crimping the wires, it is advisable to review the video, and very carefully. It shows how to properly handle ticks and how you can do without them. Still, it’s better to play it safe and use a tool for better quality work.

How to connect an internet cable to a power outlet

To begin with, it should be noted that Internet sockets, like electrical sockets, there are two types: for external installation and for internal installation.

It should be noted that all sockets are collapsible and consist of three parts: half of the socket body is used for fastening, the inside of the socket is intended for connecting wires, and the second part of the body serves as a protective element. There are both single and double Internet sockets.

Computer sockets may differ in appearance, but their operating principle is the same. All of them are equipped with microknife contacts. As a rule, they are designed to cut through the insulation of conductors, after which reliable contact is established, since the process is carried out under a certain reinforcement.

Connecting a computer wall socket

Almost all manufacturers of computer sockets place a connection diagram inside, indicating the order in which the wires are placed, based on their colors. As a rule, both scheme “A” and scheme “B” are indicated. Scheme “A” should not be taken into account, but focus on scheme “B”.

First of all, proceed to install the case on the wall, positioning it so that the cable inlet faces up and the computer connector faces down. Although this installation option can be changed, depending on specific conditions, the outlet can be installed horizontally.

As you can see, connecting an Internet outlet is not a complicated operation and anyone can handle it. This may only take a few minutes. In this case, once is enough, although the first time it may not work, especially if you do not have the skills to handle wires.

In order not to suffer too much, it is better to watch the corresponding video, which shows and tells how to connect a computer outlet with 4 wires and with 8 wires.

Despite the different number of wires, the connection technology is the same.

Connecting an internal Internet outlet

The main task of the connection is to be able to correctly disassemble the Internet outlet, since each manufacturer solves this problem in its own way.

The most important thing is to disassemble it so that there is free access to the contacts with the microknives. It is in this part that the connection is made, after which the housing cover with contacts is closed. Each model of such an outlet has its own method of assembly and disassembly.

If we take, for example, a Legrand computer socket, then in order to get to the place where the wires of the Legrand Valena RJ-45 socket are connected, you first need to remove the front cover. Inside the case you can see a white plastic panel with an impeller, where an arrow is drawn (see photo).

The handle on the panel is turned in the direction of the arrow, after which the front panel is removed. On the surface of the panel there is a metal plate with a pattern, from which you can determine which contacts and which wire should be connected. The color marking of twisted pairs is also indicated here. Before starting the connection, wires prepared for the connection process are threaded into the hole located on the plate.

To make it more clear, it is better to watch the prepared video.

You can also find a socket for connecting the Internet from Lezard. Here the design is completely different. The front panel is designed with screws, so to remove it, just unscrew these screws. As for its insides, everything here is secured with latches. To remove the insides from the body, you need to pick up a regular, small screwdriver and squeeze the clamps.

To get to the contact group and remove it from the housing, you need to press the latch, which can be found on top. As a result of such actions, you may end up with a box in your hands, from which you will have to remove the cover to get to the contacts. To remove the cover, just pry the side petals with a thin object. You still have to put in some effort, since the latch is quite elastic. At the same time, you need to remember that you are holding plastic in your hands and if you do not do everything carefully, you can break it.

For greater clarity, we suggest you watch the video tutorial.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that the presence of a corresponding video on the Internet simplifies the process of mastering various actions or carrying out work related to connecting computer sockets. Despite the fact that each outlet model is designed differently, the connection process is the same for all. The most important thing is to master the connection process yourself, associated with certain features. It would seem that it would be easier if the connection was made using twisting or soldering, which would be accessible to almost everyone. But at the same time, it would not be possible to ensure the compactness and accuracy of the connection itself. But such connections have their advantages: you wouldn’t have to stock up on jacks. Although, on the other hand, this connection method is more designed for professionalism, simplicity and speed, especially if you use a special tool.

And, nevertheless, if you have at least some skills in working with electrical wires, then such a connection does not contain any difficulties. Without inviting any specialists, you can actually install a computer network in your apartment or private house. Moreover, such specialists will charge a considerable amount for this.

The main difference between computer sockets and regular ones is that they have a type of wire called twisted pair. What does this mean? This means that the outlet has 8 copper wires twisted together in 4 pairs. It is with the help of these wires that all electrical interference is safely suppressed, and high data transfer speeds are ensured (up to 1000 Mbit/sec).

This socket has a design that is distinctive from other types of sockets and a special connector (the most commonly used connector for a network socket is RJ-45).

Connecting a power outlet with such an interface is quite simple, especially if there are detailed instructions for this process. Network sockets can be both hidden and for open installation; if you suddenly need to install it in a place with high humidity or in the open air, then you need a surface-mounted Internet socket.

Preparatory work

The first thing to do is to install electrical wiring for the Internet, of course, if this was not done during the construction of the house. The wiring is laid to one point in the apartment, and a Wi-Fi router will already be connected to it, which will provide reliable coverage for all Internet users.

Once the wiring is in place, you can install the socket box. To do this, a hammer drill and a special crown are used, with the help of which a suitable hole is hollowed out in the wall. The finished niche is cleaned of dust and other contaminants, and then a socket box is installed in it. You can fix it with a thick alabaster mixture.

This completes the preparatory work and you can proceed to wiring.

Connecting an internet outlet

Each Internet outlet contains a terminal block to which twisted pairs are connected. This terminal block must be disconnected from the socket mechanism. To do this, you need to turn the socket towards you with the back side and find the white lock there.

This latch (locking ring) must be turned slightly clockwise until the removable part is detached from the socket body.

If the terminal block is stationary, then you won’t need to remove anything.

Stripping twisted pair

Having disconnected the terminal block from the socket, you can begin connecting the Internet cable.

First, you need to insert an Internet cable through the back of the removable terminal block.

After this, you need to very carefully strip the twisted pair using a knife to expose the wires. Then the wires must be straightened, preparing them for connection.

Important! When stripping twisted pair cables, you must act very carefully and do not press the knife too hard on the protective sheath, as the wires can easily be damaged.

Internet cable connection diagram by color

In order to correctly connect the cores of a twisted pair network cable to an outlet, you need to understand what the colors and numbers on the terminal block mean. It is extremely important to correctly follow the order of connecting the colors of the Internet cable.

There are 2 connection standards: A and B. In order to understand which circuit should be used, it is necessary that it duplicates the circuit of conductive channels in the socket.

Important! In order not to make a mistake with the choice of connection scheme, you must definitely consult your Internet service provider, who will tell you which scheme was used during installation.

Now we need to figure out the color coding. Each pair of wires is designated by one color.

Eg:

    White-brown - brown

    White-blue - blue

Using color coding, you can connect up to 4 twisted pairs, but for private apartments a connection of 2 twisted pairs is usually used.

For a more detailed explanation, you can consider the connection diagram for an Internet outlet with symbols:

T568A is therefore option A, and T568B is option B.

Connecting wires to a power outlet

Having understood the diagram, you can begin to connect the wires of the Internet wire by inserting them into the corresponding grooves on the box.

Info! Before connecting the wires, their ends are not stripped, since reliable and correct connection is ensured by the contact pad mechanism itself.

The photo shows that the color of each wire matches the color scheme located opposite each slot.

In order to ensure high connection strength, you need to deepen the wires in the grooves using a cross-connecting knife (this is why the process of crimping an Internet cable by color is called cross-wiring of twisted pair cables). And then the contact pads of the socket do their job, securely securing the wires in their places.

How do such platforms work? In fact, everything is quite simple: these pads are made in the form of pointed plates, located at such a distance from each other that when the lid is lowered into its seat, the insulation of the cores is easily cut through by the blades, and they touch the cores that conduct the electrical signal. It is this connection that ensures uninterrupted operation of the outlet.

Installing the terminal block into a computer socket

Once all the manipulations with connecting the wires have been completed, the terminal block can be returned back to the socket in the same way as it was removed from there, and then tighten the locking ring tightly.

After this, you should make sure that the connection is correct; to do this, you need to connect some device to the outlet, for example, a modem - if it works, then everything is fine. If the device does not work, you will need to check the correct connection of the wires and the quality of their crimping.

Advice! In order for the connection to be correct, it is better to carry it out with a special cable tester.

After checking the functionality of the new network, you can trim the protruding wires and begin installing the socket into the socket box already installed in the wall.

Installing a socket

When installing an ethernet socket in a socket box, you do not need to resort to any tricks - this process is completely similar to the process of installing a regular electrical socket. But you must make sure that the cable is neatly placed in the box, and only then screw the socket on.

After installation, the Internet socket is equipped with a decorative cover. Then all you have to do is connect the Internet cable to the outlet.

A similar twisted pair connection and socket installation scheme can be used for all types of Internet sockets. Perhaps they may differ in the shape and location of the contact groups, as well as in the installation method, but the essence of the connection does not change at all.

If there is a need to connect to two networks, there are double 2xRJ-45 sockets; their design and connection diagram do not differ from standard RJ-45 network sockets. One Internet socket with two outputs is obviously cheaper to buy and install than two single ones.

Connecting an Internet outlet with your own hands is available to every user, but it is worth following the rules for connecting twisted pair wires and following the color and digital schemes, since this is the most important point when connecting such an outlet.
