Biography. Biography Socialite and one of the wealthiest rectors in Russia

I'll buy a university for five million

Vasily Zhukov in a hospital bed.

This year, the Russian State Social University has repeatedly found itself at the epicenter of scandals. First, the rector Lydia Fedyakina was fired - her place was taken by the widow of the famous Russian politician Alexander Pochinok, Natalya Pochinok. And at the end of August, unknown persons attacked the 67-year-old honorary president of the Russian State University Vasily Ivanovich Zhukov, beating him with baseball bats. The founding rector himself considers the assassination attempt an attempted murder, from which he escaped only thanks to his Sambo skills and the Osa traumatic pistol. While in a hospital bed after an incident in the style of the turbulent 90s, Vasily Zhukov gave MK an exclusive interview, voicing his version of the events taking place today around his university.

Let us remind you: RGSU was founded practically from scratch by Vasily Zhukov in 1991. He also headed the university until 2012. The Zhukov family has always had a close and direct connection with the university. Vasily Zhukov is the founding rector and honorary president, his wife Galina Zhukova was vice-rector and member of the academic council, Vasily Ivanovich’s daughter, Lydia Fedyakina, is rector, second daughter, also Galina, is head of the department of youth policy, information and public relations. Such nepotism has recently been constantly reproached to them. And at the beginning of this year, Lydia Fedyakina was removed from the post of rector by order of the Ministry of Education and Science, in connection with this, vice-rector Galina Savostyanovna Zhukova (wife) had to leave the university, and in the summer Galina Vasilyevna Zhukova (daughter) was deprived of her academic degree for inconsistencies in her dissertation. Nowadays, the duties of rector are performed by Natalya Pochinok, appointed by the ministry, the widow of former minister Alexander Pochinok.

Perhaps this whole story is much more complicated than it looks. Lidiya Fedyakina is trying to be reinstated in her position through the court, considering herself wrongfully dismissed. Recently, the Zhukov family has received personal and telephone threats regarding this lawsuit. And now - the attack. A 67-year-old man was diagnosed with fractures of the shin bones and severe multiple bruises of the body and limbs.

— What is your status today in relation to RGSU?

— The current administration claims that I no longer have anything to do with the university. At the same time, I still remain honorary president and founding rector, no matter what. Although they are expelling me with all their might, hastily depriving me of my office, secretary, transport and other things necessary for the position.

— At what point did your daughter Lydia Fedyakina replace you as rector?

— I promised my team that I would work only until 2012, until I turn 65 years old, after which, as I believe, the rector should transfer powers to young specialists. I voluntarily resigned from my position, and we had elections; there were more than ten applicants, doctors of science, who proposed their university development programs to the academic council. At the conference of the labor collective, Lidia Vasilievna Fedyakina, who was then 32 years old, was elected - vice-rector for educational work, doctor of pedagogical sciences, with 138 works, including 12 monographs on the profile. She received this position because she has an excellent education, has gone through all the ranks from assistant to vice-rector, and is an excellent organizer and leader.

— When and how did clouds begin to gather over the institute?

— In October 2013, I believe, at RGSU they began testing a trial method of essentially a raider takeover of a state university by a financial and commercial clan. In October, Alexander Petrovich Pochinok came to me and said: I would like to become the rector of your university...

— What kind of relationship did Alexander Pochinok have with the university and what kind of relationship did he have with you personally?

“We have known each other for quite a long time, but we have always had a purely business relationship. I have always respected him as a professional in his field, with a unique political and organizational sense, a talented, refined Soviet intellectual, an excellent student, with a colossal amount of knowledge and memory. A true representative of the classical right, especially in the field of economics.

When he was removed from the post of minister, humiliating persecution began against him. Everyone who had previously fawned over him began to look down on him, they even threw him out of the office, like I am now: without allowing him to take personal belongings, paintings, gifts, they instantly took away the dacha - and everything was rude and contemptuous...

And every time I took him to work, supporting him in a difficult situation. When he was removed from his ministerial position, from the Federation Council, etc., he always came to me. At the same time, in fact, unfortunately, despite my expectations, nothing useful and good for the university followed. He was simply listed, waiting out periods of disgrace with us, waiting for a new position and an invitation to politics.

Alexander Pochinok, Minister of Labor and Social Development in 2000–2004.

— Let’s go back to the moment when Pochinok told you that he wants to become the rector of RGSU - instead of your daughter, who was then the head of the university...

- Yes, I didn’t even know how to react, I was just taken aback... He continued: I will become rector, Lidia Vasilievna will move to the position of first vice-rector. You will receive 3 million rubles monthly until 2018 inclusive, your daughter - 2 million. Do you want 250 million at once? The fact that you already have a rector is not a problem, I will solve everything, I have already agreed on almost everything in the ministry!

I was perplexed - how can such a conversation even take place?! I tell him: Alexander Petrovich, what are you talking about? We are having elections of the rector, not selling positions! And anyway, why do you need this?! If you sit out a little, you will probably be a senator again... And he answers me: now I speak on TV all the time, and it says: “Alexander Pochinok, professor at the Higher School of Economics.” And if it says “Rector of the Russian State Social University,” then I will definitely return to power - either to the government or to the Presidential Administration!

— So the university is like a political lever?

“I say: the university cannot be drawn into political games!” This is the place where people come for knowledge. A rector who pushes an institute into politics is behaving irresponsibly! We parted very coldly, and that’s putting it mildly... I answered with profanity, from the heart - I have, you know, experience from the virgin lands, from construction brigades...

Pochinok left and disappeared for a long time. Some time later, at the beginning of 2014, he comes again and says: we have adjusted our position, and now it will probably suit you. I am ready to take the position of university president, not rector. Lidia Vasilyevna, your daughter, remains the rector. And all the previous conditions - 5 million a month for you and her, until 2018.

I told him again: you probably understand that I don’t sell positions! Let's do this - if you manage to achieve the allocation of 3 billion rubles for the construction of a hostel, then at the next election I will support your candidacy. The dormitories were the only weak point at the university, the improvement of which I devoted all the last decades - I organized everything, Lidia Vasilievna built a swimming pool, but we still had about 700 boys and girls who rented corners and rooms in Moscow. He thought about it and said: “The Ministry of Education, not even 250 million, which I offer you, but five times less will be enough, and all issues will be resolved. But your eldest daughter will be disgracefully removed from the post of rector, your wife will be expelled from the university, your youngest daughter will cease to be a doctor of economic sciences, and then they will get to you!” Three weeks after this conversation, Pochinok died, but all four points of this plan were fulfilled: Lydia was removed from her position, Galina was deprived of her degree, my wife was fired, and I was crippled!

— What were the formal grounds for official “punitive” measures against your relatives?

— In April 2014, Lidiya Vasilievna received an order to terminate relations with her unilaterally without explanation. Yes, the ministry has the right to do this, but she was on sick leave to care for her child, which means such an order is illegal. The media began to shout that, they say, “Zhukov is fighting for his feeding trough,” and the entire family began to be discredited. In August, the youngest daughter Galina’s academic degree was revoked - but not for “plagiarism”, as they write everywhere, but because she did not make a footnote citing herself in the dissertation - the work contains references to her own previous works, which is quite acceptable.

- But Pochinok died, and all the dismissals, the change of rector, the stories with dissertations happened later...

— Apparently, this “corporation” continued to operate.

—Who do you mean by “corporation”? Ministry of Education?!

- Well, I didn’t come up with this - these are the words of Pochinok, who mentioned the ministry... And everything happened as he said. This means that all the agreements with the ministry employees were fulfilled after all. Who are we talking about? Of course, I know the names. We are talking primarily about three high-ranking employees - one of them has just changed his job - whom I personally consider to be the masterminds of this attack. And I want the customers to know: their names are known to law enforcement officials, and the next action, no matter what its nature, is meaningless, because it will only aggravate their difficult situation. I say this because it is important for me now to protect not so much myself, but my loved ones, who could simply be killed! They, of course, missed their chance - now it’s the investigation’s turn. And I have no doubt about the competence of our bodies. They will find everyone: both performers and customers. If only nothing happens to my loved ones!

— Do you think the situation with the attack on you is a continuation of the story around the university? But why? After all, neither you, even formally still maintaining the status of honorary president, nor your daughter, as a former rector, no longer exert influence on the university after Natalya Pochinok was appointed head of the RGSU.

— Despite the fact that all the previous management was eliminated and the team was cleaned up, the current management of the university, apparently, is very worried about the situation with the application to the court that Liliya Vasilyevna filed regarding her illegal dismissal from the post of rector. They could not terminate the contract with her because she was on sick leave, and according to the Labor Code you cannot fire a person when he is on sick leave. Now on September 16, Lydia Vasilievna has a court of second instance, and I am convinced that justice will be able to restore justice!

— What are your next steps?

- I'm not going to give up. But I'm not alone! Lidia Vasilievna, for example, is raising three children alone... A few days before the attack, a guy approached me on the street and asked: “Were you warned?” I ask in bewilderment: “About what?!” — “You were asked to withdraw your daughter’s application to the court for illegal dismissal. In general, we haven’t received the order yet, but when we get the order, we’ll start!” - he said. And he emphatically tapped the fist of one hand on the palm of the other. And soon two bullies attacked me with bats, broke my legs, and broke my arm. Doctors inserted a plate - 13 screws - into my right leg. I will be able to stand on my feet no earlier than in two months. I am very afraid for my family...

“MK” tried to find out from the current head of the RGSU, Natalya Borisovna Pochinok, her opinion about Zhukov’s position - in the sense of his statements about the “raider takeover of the university” and relations with Pochinok.

— I am familiar with what Vasily Ivanovich Zhukov says... I don’t understand why and why he says that, in fact he is slandering (although the wording “slander” is still the prerogative of the court). None of this is true. His relationship with Alexander Petrovich Pochinok in the form that Zhukov describes was, of course, impossible, and discussing them is pointless and stupid. I, in turn, sincerely regret what happened to Vasily Ivanovich and hope that law enforcement agencies will find those who attempted to assassinate him, the reason will be established and will become known to the public. We are not hiding anything from anyone, and on September 16, RGSU will host a press conference for the media, where we will not only talk about the new university development strategy, but will also be ready to answer any, even the most inconvenient questions - including situations with a change of leadership, etc.

SPECIAL OPINION

One of the former vice-rectors of the university, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke about the era of the Zhukov family’s rule at RGSU:

— Vasily Ivanovich Zhukov is a great organizer, very talented! He really created this university from scratch, you can’t take that away from him! And the elections in which his daughter became rector were, oddly enough, fair and legitimate - the founder of the university himself was confident that she was the best candidate, his opinion was known, was authoritative, and they really listened to him, without any pressure or fraud.

She met her future husband, Alexander Pochinok, at the Plekhanov Academy; at that moment he was teaching there. From his first marriage (to Irina) he has a daughter, Olga. At the time he met his future second wife, who became Natalya Borisovna Pochinok (Gribkova), he was still married. Natalya was then his student, whose thesis work he supervised. He soon divorced his first wife, and in 2000 the couple had their first child - son Peter, and then, two years later, Alexander. She lived with her husband for about 14 years until his death, but at that time she kept her maiden name - Gribkova. Natalya Pochinok - rector of RGSU

A few days after the death of her husband Alexander Pochinok, on March 20, 2014, his widow was appointed to the position of head of the university department of Taxes and Taxation, which was previously headed by her famous husband. At the time of taking up this position, the total experience of scientific and teaching activity was 1.5 years. For the most part, the work activity of the current rector of the RSSU was previously connected with the financial sector.

Before Natalya Pochinok, Lidia Fedyakina was the rector of the university. She was removed from her position in April 2014 because the Higher Attestation Commission found plagiarism in her doctoral dissertation. At the conclusion of the council, it was generally agreed that the text contains borrowings from other people's works.

Children are US citizens

Natalya has two sons who appeared in her marriage to Alexander Pochinok. They study in the USA. Her children are full citizens of the United States, since she gave birth to them in this country, and, according to American laws, any person born in the States automatically becomes a full citizen of America. In 2015, Natalya Pochinok wanted to leave the post of rector of the university due to the fact that her children were permanent residents of the United States, but still remained to work at the institution.

Peter and Alexander are now permanently in the States and are studying there at a closed elite school. In this regard, many criticized her for the fact that, on the one hand, being the rector of a Russian university, she promotes education in our country, and on the other hand, through her actions she shows her commitment to studying abroad.

This speaks of her versatile personality, as well as her ambitious nature. An important role in the development of her career and professional growth was also played by her famous husband Alexander Pochinok, who helped his wife in every possible way.

For the rector of RGSU Natalya Pochinok, culture is measured only in material and monetary categories...

In an interview with Literaturnaya Gazeta, Valery Aleksandrovich Nikitin, candidate of philological sciences, translator, holder of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic, laureate of the French Academy Prize, spoke about the pernicious and truly destructive influence that Russophobe liberals have on Higher Schools in modern Russia ..

Thanks to Valery Alexandrovich’s translations, Russian readers were able to get acquainted with a number of works by classics of French literature of the 20th century: Marcel Emme And Joseph Kessel, Felicien Marceau And Francois Nurisier, Jacques Chardon And Zhana Giono, Julien Gracq, Francois Mauriac, Emil Ciorana and others. In addition, Nikitin is the creator of a unique cultural center called "French Library - Museum of French Civilization", numbering more than 40 thousand volumes.

– Valery Alexandrovich, how did you manage to raise the center on your own?

– The Center is already 16 years old, and for the last ten it has existed in the bowels of the RGSU – Russian State Social University. However, two years ago, by order of the new rector Natalia Borisovna Pochinok The French Library was liquidated. Meanwhile, we are talking about 30 thousand volumes in French and more than 10 thousand in English, German, Italian, Polish, Chinese, Spanish and a number of rare Asian languages.

My collection arose as a “by-product” of the work of a translator, and all these years it required a lot of effort from me, including physical: I had to constantly transport books from place to place, pack, unpack, load and arrange, and then reassemble and pack…

Valery Aleksandrovich Nikitin

At first it happened by chance. When we were students, there was a foreign book store on Vesnina Street, now called Denezhny Lane. Book after book was bought, first for study, then for work. In the 80s, during scientific trips, I managed to establish contacts with French publishing houses, and books came in a flood, satisfying not only my needs, but also the needs of my colleagues and publishers. The writers I translated gave me books. One Maurice Druon donated more than a thousand volumes, the same number - Francois Nurisier . Added to my book collection Gilles Lapouzha , Pascal Lene , Jean-Louis Gouraud , Pierre Nora . I was given gifts by the French Academy, the Parisian House of Human Sciences, and other organizations and people, sometimes not associated with literature. I would especially like to note the collection of German books donated by the famous German scholar and translator Yuri Ivanovich Arkhipov .

– It is clear that as a philologist you were primarily interested in fiction, philological sciences, philosophy and history. What else?

– Literally all the humanities: psychology, sociology, theology, law, art history, linguistics, regional studies, political science, and so on. I spent almost my entire adult life in libraries and learned to understand the true value of books. I remain grateful to my country for its libraries and strive to express this gratitude in a way that is accessible to me. I just brought a lot of books from Paris. A significant part are completely new, published last and this year. Among the latter is the encyclopedic Dictionary of the Ottoman Empire, on which 175 scientists worked; it's 1332 pages. The price of this dictionary is 170 euros, at the current exchange rate - 12 thousand rubles. Can our libraries buy such books? And I have hundreds of similar encyclopedic publications. On India, China, Japan, the Vatican, the Age of Enlightenment, Antiquity, on certain periods of the history of European countries, art history and cultural studies...

When our home was completely full, my wife went to the council with a proposal to donate the books to the city, especially since I collected them not only for myself. As a result, we were temporarily allocated a room in the new children's library, which was huge in area but had almost no book collection. This is how the cultural center “French Library – Museum of French Civilization” appeared, and I became its director on a voluntary basis. The authorities even planned to open a school nearby with in-depth study of the French language, but this, alas, did not happen. And soon they decided that the French library was of no use to the area, and they suggested that I urgently take the books to the basements of the library administration, and where the library had previously been planned to be located, a strip club was located.

– And that’s when you turned to Litgazeta...

– I will remain in debt to the newspaper and its editor-in-chief for the rest of my life. Yuri Polyakov , who gave the go-ahead for the publication of my call for help: the rector of the RSSU who read it Vasily Ivanovich Zhukov sent a delegation to us to get acquainted with the fund, and soon the library moved to the university. At our first meeting, the rector said that he wanted to buy a library, but I told him that I had come to give it as a gift. “Then I appoint you as its permanent director with a salary equivalent to $500, and without mandatory presence at work.” . I was infinitely touched and with redoubled energy began to work for the glory of RGSU, setting the goal of making its library one of the most powerful in the university community. And I spent the salary allocated to me on trips to Paris, from where I regularly brought dozens and hundreds of new books.

I perceive the expulsion of the library from RGSU as a consequence of a kind of political coup that occurred immediately after the appointment of N.B. as rector of RGSU. Pochinok: the fact is that the brainchild of V.I. Zhukov - and it was he who created the social university - bore a distinct touch of “Sovietism” in the most positive sense of the word. There was a cult of veterans, a monument to fallen Soviet soldiers was erected, an exhibition of Victory weapons was created, there was respectful respect for the Comintern past of the main building, and at the same time the construction of an Orthodox church began - in a word, there was clearly a desire to unite our ancient and recent history through its most glorious pages.

– How did the new rector justify her intention to liquidate the French Library?

No way, she didn’t even deign to accept me. I was told that when, in my absence, she was shown an old French book, it seems from the 18th century, she casually remarked: “And you call this an antique?” The highlight of the collection of her late husband, a famous bibliophile, was a collection of luxuriously published and beautifully illustrated volumes of foreign classics. Each such volume, with reconstructed pictures and Russian text, costs from a thousand euros. It was these publications that took pride of place in the office of the new rector. It seems that only those publications that belong to her personally have value for Mrs. Pochinok...

Natalya Borisovna Pochinok (currently rector of RGSU) with her late husband. No comments…

The portrait of Pochinok that the Internet paints is ambiguous to say the least: a socialite; girlfriend Sergei Parkhomenko , Bozheny Rynska And Evgeniy Albats ;the widow of a high-ranking Russian official who gave birth twice in the United States so that her children would automatically qualify for American citizenship; rector with almost no teaching experience. It is not clear what argument became decisive for Minister Livanov when appointing her to the high position of rector of a social university - given such and such social guidelines.

– Tell me, what is now located in the premises occupied by the “French Library”?

It was planned to create an entertainment complex there, something like a music cafe. But it turned out that the students had little money, which meant that the income from the cafe would be insignificant. Now there is nothing there except stacks of discarded books from the university research library. By the way, they demanded that I remove the “French Library” in the form of an ultimatum.

Most of them were sheltered by the Surikov Institute, where my wife works. Many thanks to the rector Anatoly Alexandrovich Lyubavin and vice-rector Valentina Prokofievna Kulai : They accepted as much as they could. But space there is limited, and so are financial opportunities. Some albums are arranged and fully participate in the pedagogical process, but most of the books are in boxes and bundles.

You know, I don’t even hold on to the integrity of the collection. The main thing is that the books I collected serve people. If universities do not have enough premises, the fund can be divided into parts according to fields of knowledge. I can’t come to terms with the fact that our wide Knizhnaya Street has turned into Money Lane.

Natalya Borisovna Pochinok (Gribkova)

Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor, Rector of the Russian State Social University (RGSU)

In 1991 - 1994, she was a member of the junior team of the Russian Federation - Russia in athletics, as part of which she won international running competitions, master of sports.

He has two higher educations - economics (REU named after G.V. Plekhanov, 1997) and legal (RGSU, 2002). In 2001, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Taxes in the mechanism for stimulating foreign investment in Russia.”

The career of the current rector began at the turn of the century, when Natalya Pochinok was still a graduate student of A.P. Repair at RGSU. The keen Alexander Petrovich (Minister of Taxes and Duties (1999-2000), Minister of Labor and Social Development (2000-2004)) showed male interest in a sporty and attractive pupil. As a result, a new family was created with all the ensuing problems. For example, the ambitious Natalya needed to be placed somewhere in a decent position. Thanks to the efforts of Alexander Pochinok, a recent graduate student was accepted into a management position at the Krasnodar branch of Raiffeisenbank. However, soon Natalya Borisovna was asked to leave the credit institution voluntarily and without scandal: they say that the ex-athlete and master of sports in running had absolutely no understanding of banking. After this, Alexander Petrovich Pochinok had to ask for a job for the wife of an old friend, German Oskarovich Gref. Although not without difficulty, he still agreed to take Natalya to Sberbank - to be responsible for the branch network.

But Natalya Pochinok did not last long at Sberbank either. Time passed, the young ambitious wife nagged her influential, but no longer very healthy husband. In the end, Alexander Petrovich Pochinok went to academician Vasily Zhukov. Apparently, Pochinok did not at all want to start an unpleasant bargaining with the academician for the position of rector of the RGSU for his wife. Moreover, according to rumors, the Pochinkis no longer actually lived together: young Natalya had already found herself a boyfriend. But being a decent person, Alexander Petrovich not only continued to provide for his last love financially, but also did not give up trying to help Natalya with professional self-realization. Of course, Alexander Petrovich most likely understood well that his Natalya was as far from being the rector of the university as he was from being the president of the Russian Federation. But, as they say, love is evil...

According to a number of media reports, before Lidia Fedyakina’s removal, persons allegedly appeared at the RGSU who received certain guarantees from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science for “resolving the personnel issue.” One of them, according to university employee Sofia Egorova, offered 250 million rubles in “compensation” for the position of rector of the RGSU and the voluntary transfer of Fedyakina to the position of first vice-rector. Upon receiving the refusal, the negotiator stated that he wanted “the best,” but now, as he was advised, he would divide this money between the Ministry of Education and Science and Dissernet.

This version corresponds to conversations in the scientific and educational community that shortly before his untimely death, Alexander Pochinok turned to the head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Dmitry Livanov, for assistance in resolving the issue of the position of rector of the RGSU. It is not known for certain what the former and current ministers agreed on. But soon Alexander Pochinok ended up in the hospital, from which he never left. Although, as experts say, Pochinok’s death lies on the conscience of the doctors, who could easily have saved him, and if they couldn’t, then they had the opportunity and time to transport the patient to one of the European clinics, where Alexander Petrovich would certainly have been put back on his feet. After Pochinok’s funeral, the wheel of conflict began to spin with alarming speed. It is obvious that the key player in the combination with the redistribution of power in the RGSU was Minister Livanov, who, apparently, is pursuing his own interests in this criminal story. If you believe the letter sent to the media from the above-mentioned RGSU employee Egorova, “the real reason for the “retribution” against Fedyakina is her repeated and decisive refusal to enter into a corruption conspiracy with the leaders of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.” The fact is that RGSU has a significant property complex, including extensive land in the Moscow region. Now, with the accession of a new rector at the university, Natalya Pochinok, a start has been made to tear apart this property in the interests of enriching a certain group of people in the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science.

If the late A.P. knew Pochinok, how his attempt to help his wife find a job would end, would hardly have started this story. However, the investigative authorities will probably still have to understand the intricacies and clearly criminal overtones of the drama. And the sooner this happens, the better for the reputation of RSSU...
