Children, as a rule, do not really like cabbage, but they love meatballs or cutlets, so feeding them can sometimes be problematic.

You will definitely hear “I don’t want to, I won’t” at the table. Therefore, mothers should adopt the recipe for lazy cabbage rolls in the oven.

How to cook lazy cabbage rolls in the oven with sour cream for children - recipe with photo:

Chop the onion very finely (I cook without onions, since children don’t recognize them :) and grate the carrots on a fine grater.

If desired, you can fry the vegetables a little in butter, add water or broth, and simmer a little. Then lazy cabbage rolls for children will turn out more flavorful.

Cabbage, if the head of cabbage is very hard, can be grated on a coarse grater, or very finely chopped with a knife or in a meat grinder with a special attachment.

In a large bowl mix:

  • cabbage
  • minced meat rolled several times to soften it
  • add eggs to the mixture
  • coarse salt
  • you can add some chopped herbs

Mix well and leave to cool in the refrigerator for an hour.
This technique will allow you to ensure that lazy cabbage rolls in the oven with sour cream for children keep their shape well and do not fall apart during the cooking process.

But if you don’t have time, you can immediately form the cutlets and cook them.

After the mass has cooled, it is necessary to form small round patties from it.

Fry them in a frying pan until golden brown. You need to fry for a short time, just a couple of minutes, over high heat to form a crust. It will retain moisture inside, and will also prevent lazy cabbage rolls from falling apart during further stewing in the oven.

Place them in a deep baking tray or any other baking dish.

The oven should be preheated to 180 degrees.

Add 200-300 ml to the bowl. warm water and dilute sour cream with tomato paste (or with tomatoes twisted in a meat grinder) in it.

Pour sour cream sauce over the cabbage rolls in the pan until the sauce almost completely covers the cabbage rolls. Add grated carrots and bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.

You can serve lazy cabbage rolls as an independent dish with fresh vegetables. And also with any side dish, for example, sour cream sauce. To prepare it, chop some fresh herbs into sour cream; for older children, you can squeeze out a quarter of garlic.

On a note:

You don’t have to grate the cabbage, but instead grind everything together with the meat in a meat grinder, then the cabbage rolls will turn out more uniform and tender; this method of preparing lazy cabbage rolls is perfect for very young children.

If desired, the rice can be replaced with buckwheat, or even made, in which case the dish is suitable for children over one year old.

Another recipe like in kindergarten - lazy cabbage rolls. This recipe for preparing cabbage rolls is used for baby food, because children are unlikely to eat cabbage rolls according to the classic recipe in cabbage leaves. That is why lazy cabbage rolls are often prepared in kindergartens. For them, the cabbage is finely chopped and placed in minced meat, cutlets are made from the resulting minced meat, breaded and fried, and then poured with tomato sauce and baked in the oven. They taste the same as cabbage rolls, only they look different and are more to the taste of children. They also save a lot of time, as their preparation is much faster than preparing regular cabbage rolls.

  • Onion - 2 pcs.
  • Tomato - 400 ml
  • Sour cream - 100 g

Step-by-step recipe for making lazy cabbage rolls

Since lazy cabbage rolls contain rice, boil it first, preferably until half cooked. After boiling, salt the water.

Peel and chop 2 medium-sized onions finely, peel the carrots and grate them. Fry them together until transparent.

Shred the cabbage and then cut it into small cubes. Blanch it in water for 5 minutes and add salt.

Grind the pork cut into pieces in a meat grinder, add the fried vegetables and cooled cabbage. It can be added in this form or it can also be passed through a meat grinder. The second option can be used completely for picky children. There we also put the rice boiled until half cooked, salt and ground pepper. Since children will also eat cabbage rolls, there is no need to add a lot of pepper.

Mix this minced meat thoroughly with a spoon or even your hand. Form it into oblong cutlets and roll in breadcrumbs. Let's fry them in vegetable oil, but not too much, because they will still be cooked in the oven with the gravy.

As soon as we fry all the cabbage rolls, make the gravy. Mix sour cream and tomato in a bowl, it is better to use homemade one so that it is like thick tomato juice. Add salt, seasonings - rosemary and thyme, just a little to this mixture. Bring it to a boil and turn it off. I also add chopped cabbage to this sauce, if I don’t put all of it in the minced meat.

It is quite difficult to diversify the meat menu for children under one year old. Most often they are given casseroles with meat and vegetables, meat soufflé or mashed potatoes, since the turn of meatballs, meatballs and cutlets has not yet come. However, there is a dish that kids will like and will be quite capable of - lazy cabbage rolls, the recipe for which you will find in this article.
